Those Darndest Packets Of Powder
Angel Of Hope

When a person is irritated or simple in a bad state of mind, they can tend to look to drugs but still act blind. They can't see that what they're confiding in is a killer; they can't hear anything but the migrain-causing song that is part of such a thrill. Urban legends say, "Look, drugs make you smile and see pretty angels." Well, they lie; you'll get a surprised visit from insane devils. You won't know what's happening and you can't save yourself. Before you know it, you'll have enslaved yourself. Then, you fail when you try to tame yourself, and you know it's your fault but still don't blame yourself. Maybe you'll love drugs, and maybe you'll admire them, or maybe you'll just remember that even Mickey D's looks down on druggies and fires them. Don't start sniffin'; don't start tokin'. They'll get you so disoriented, and you won't be laughin' no more. You won't be jokin'.
To make it fair and give ya'll druggies a chance, I'll admit that I don't know how addicting drugs are. I refuse to dance with a silly marijuana leaf or a dirty syringe. Never will I fly with you towards a hyped up binge. You say it's fun and there's nothing like it. You also tell me that when you wake up, you strike it strange to be in a dark room you don't remember. Then, you recall a family, your own gamily, staying inside on a cold December night. I know you love to fight. I know that nothin' feels better to you than being hit by a light. Too bad the light disappears and you're left alone. The light of being high up and went back home. You're sitting in a corner, barely able to breathe. You lie and say you ain't terrified. Your lies don't fool me. It's true that escaping from hell feels like a whole new world. Still, you better realize you've been deceived before you can't help but hurl.
If you don't agree with the things I say, I'll come up with a few examples and inject them your way. You know what it's like when you have no control of your body, and you grow so weak and start acting oddly. Then, you find out the next day that you killed someone. You can't believe that your stupid decision would've chilled someone. You remember when you used to say no to drugs. You think back on when you used to talk crap about thugs. Now, you understand that you're one of them. No longer can you laugh or shun on them. Or maybe once you got high and nothing catastrophic went down. You decide to keep doing and get some cocaine from town. Slowly, you become so addicted; you know it but won't accept the fact that you're afflicted and peer pressure only knows how to make things worse. Already, you know there's no going back. You surrender to cocaine's curse. Then, you wind up here, your guilt becoming too clear. Don't you wish you could go back and cut yourself some serious slack?
Have you been to jail? Do you know what it could be like? Do you sometimes catch yourself imagining happiness and what it would feel like? I bet you do, and I'm here to play Dr. Phil. Just look away every time you feel the urge to take the pill. Yeah, it's gonna be hard; no doubt it'll take some getting used to. But, dude, you know that self-satisfaction will be in your heart if you choose to. Don't you want to be respected? Don't you want to be selected as a person who, over time, has successfully corrected their ways? No more horrible, blurry days. No more bad report cards or drug-related delays. I'm not saying that you're a bad person because you do what you do, but you can be better. You can enjoy reality, too. Stop living in your fake little tease of a universe. Don't let yourself be lied to. Be able to take pride in what you've done. Be the friend that others have cried to. Give people a reason to trust you. Drugs will give people a reason to want to combust you. This society might not be fair all the time, but at least give it a chance to make your life rhyme. Sober up, cover up, live it up, party it up but don't invite drugs. Don't ignite drugs.
Starting to smoke weed is a huge mistake, but if you haven't begun try to stay awake. The world is cruel and it can make you cry, but do whatever you possibly can to remind yourself not to run away from the pain. You know what they say: no pain, no gain. You can live through anything and you can smile through everything. Believe in what you can accomplish, and don't put yourself down. It's worse to start getting high than just falling to the ground. Your soul can take all the torture the environment inflicts, but it should never have the power to murder whomever it conflicts. Stand your ground; don't toke around. Live, laugh, and learn to love, and you'll surely get a smile from the skies above.
