When I Grow Old
Roberto J Moreno

Another night in my bed,
As I lay thinking about my grandfather,
I canít help it but to think I might come to that title.
How would I be?
Would I often talk to myself out of solace?
As he often states to me.
How would I view the world?
Would I be considered unfashionable and a burden on society?

These thoughts lay in my head as I talked to my grandpa,
Will my words carry wisdom or just a vague reality?
Will I lose track of time and not remember life,
Live in an oasis loop,
Forgetting my past loves and experiences,
My name and the places Iíve seen,
Will I outlive my children and wife?
Will I be fat and bald?
Will the map of life in my face be gracious?
All questions that come to mind when talking to him,
Iím long ways off,
But itís just a thought,
God knows if Iíll live to 82 and be as well in health as he is,
Will my wife be content and next to me?
My kids satisfied with the life I provided,
I ponder all of this before I go to bed.
The days seem to go by faster now days,
With a blink of an eye,
I might have missed more than a forth night.
