One Of My Prayers
Carla Thomson

God, why do I feel so lonely?
Iíve got all my friends by me.
Why do I want a guy beside me?
Whenever Iím with a guy I end up getting hurt.

God, why do I want guys to be close to me?
Iím afraid Iíll go too far again
Iím afraid Iíll leave you behind me
You know I donít want that, not again
God, all I can say is why.
Why does my body tell me one thing and my mind another?

God, I know youíre beside me,
I know youíre watching over me.
I know you would never hurt me, you are my father
God, without you I feel so lost,
I canít live without you

Lord, can you send to me someone I can hold
Someone who would respect me
Someone who will love me
Someone that I can trust
Someone who wouldnít hurt me
Someone who wouldnít want more than just a simple kiss

Lord I know I need to work on my patients
But sometimes my heart feels like itís ripped in two
And well, another part of me doesnít think that Iím ready for anyone,
That itís still too soon.
But that same side of me also longs for someone who will hold me,
To tell me that everythingís going to be ok, that I donít have to worry about it anymore,
Because Iím with him and heíll keep me safe.
Lord, someone who wouldnít mind me just crying in his arms till all the pain has gone away.

God, I know Iím still young, but young isnít always bad.
But still, a part of me wants to be single for a few years longer,
To have my freedom for a little while yet.
I just donítí want to be lonely
I donít want to feel empty
God, please fill in all the holes inside of me.
God, when Iím with you I donít need a man beside me.
Though, I still would like one to be here with me.
