I Need To Win The Lottery
David C Garland

I need to win the lottery before it is too late,
Until I win the lottery Iíll share with you my fate.
The credit crunch has left me broke and living on the dole,
My job is gone, my wife is gone Ė sheís scarpered with a Pole
Named Mariusz, who helps her with the cooking.
She says heís bright, he treats her right and so much better looking!
The only thing I own thatís worth a mention here
Is an old push bike, some shoes I like and a half-full bottle of beer.
To say Iím on my uppers does truly state my plight
But never mind, Iím in a bind, some cash can put it right.
So here I go, one pound Iíll blow, on yet another Lotto,
If it comes up Iíll take a glass and drink until Iím blotto.
So Iím looking for the jackpot to ease my cares and woe,
And when fate strikes, Iíll ditch my bike and off to Spain Iíll go.
When Iím there Iíll buy a villa with views across the Med,
And in the grounds thereíll be a pool and grass on which to tread.
Iíll dine on albondigas (thatís meatballs to those untutored),
And drink the wine from regions wide in bottles quaintly fluted.
Iíll learn to speak in Spanish and wave my arms around,
And lisp whenever necessary to reproduce their sound,
Then Iíll woo a senorita, flamenco dance all night.
All I need is a jackpot win, for my dream to see the light.
